TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning and The Mosaic Company are marking a significant milestone, celebrating the 12th anniversary of their successful “Goals for Food” program aimed at combating food insecurity throughout the Tampa Bay region.
Over the past 11 seasons, the partnership has generated substantial support for local families, with Mosaic donating $1.2 million, translating into more than 12 million meals provided to those in need across West Central Florida.

The innovative program structure links on-ice success directly to community support. Mosaic donates $1,000 for every goal scored by a Lightning player on home ice and increases the donation to $1,500 for every home-ice hat trick. As of April 10, the donation total for the current 2024-2025 season has already surpassed $149,000.
At the season’s end, these funds are distributed among numerous local food partner organizations dedicated to fighting hunger. These partners utilize the donations for critical services including emergency food relief, backpack programs providing meals for schoolchildren, mobile food pantries, school-based pantries, and various other initiatives supporting Central Florida families.
This season’s donation will benefit the following local partners:
- All Faiths Food Bank
- Cutting Edge Ministries
- ECHO of Brandon
- Feeding Tampa Bay
- Hardee Help Center
- Help of Fort Meade
- Meals on Wheels of Charlotte County
- Meals on Wheels of Tampa
- Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee
- Metropolitan Ministries
- Mulberry Community Service Center, Inc.
- United Food Bank and Services of Plant City

“Mosaic’s mission is to help the world grow the food it needs, and we are committed to helping end food insecurity in communities where we live and work,” said Sarah Fedorchuk, Mosaic’s Vice President – Government and Public Affairs. “We are proud of the positive impact the Goals for Food program has had over the past decade – providing more than 12 million meals for neighbors in need in the Tampa Bay region.”
“The Goals for Food initiative has been a driving force in the fight against food insecurity across the Tampa Bay community, and we are proud to celebrate its impact as we mark the program’s 12th anniversary,” added Sheri Anderson, Vice President of Partnerships at Vinik Sports Group. “This milestone reflects not only the power of teamwork, but the significant impact we can make when organizations come together for a common cause. We are grateful to Mosaic for their continued partnership and commitment to nourishing our community.”
To commemorate the anniversary and further support the cause, the Lightning will host a food drive benefiting Metropolitan Ministries before their game against the Buffalo Sabres on April 13th. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to the collection points at Ford Thunder Alley outside AMALIE Arena.
Mosaic employees, community partners, and fans will gather that evening to celebrate the program’s success and raise continued awareness for food insecurity in the region.
