Cobra Kai is the first TV series I have been in, but my first major production was the Lifetime Movie Nobody Will Believe You. I also filmed the short Come!(Eat) which is on HBOmax. Which I believe helped me get the role of Maria since I spoke Spanish in the film.

TAMPA, Fla. – After much anticipation, Cobra Kai is back for its fifth season. The wildly popular Netflix series offers fans its most ambitious season yet.

Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), and Johnny Lawrence, (William Zabka), are faced with an issue far greater than their personal rivalry, Terry Silver’s (Thomas Ian Griffith) plans to take Cobra Kai globally.

Locally, fans of the #1 trending Netflix series will recognize a local celebrity, Elvia Hill, making her appearance in episodes one and two of season five.

Hill, who has been in the Tampa Bay area for over 11 years, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, moved to the area while in High School.

“Being part of this series was a dream come true. It’s not every day you get to be part of a beloved series with such hard-core fans. I also got to act alongside Xolo Mariduena (Miguel Diaz) and Luis Roberto Guzman (Hector). Both are fantastic Latino actors,” said Hill. “I remember watching Luis in Telenovelas when I was younger, and it was surreal getting to play his girlfriend in Cobra Kai.”

In a dramatic scene that plays out in episode one of season five, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena), rescues Maria’s (Elvia Hill) son from being hit by a vehicle, which leads to an instant bond formed between the strangers.

“I completely related to Maria since I am a mother myself. If someone saved my child, I would invite them to every holiday dinner. They would be part of my family from there on,” Hill said.

While being a part of Cobra Kai was a thrilling experience for Hill, she’s no stranger to the lights, camera, and action.

“I went to a performing arts High School as a vocal major for a few years. I transferred to another school and started doing theatre. I even won a small Performing Arts scholarship but I decided acting was not for me at the time since I was horrible at auditions and had a lot of stage fright. I started taking Classical Acting classes with Termaine Jenkins in 2019 and continued taking them with other instructors like Andi Matheny, Eugenie Bondurant, CJ Bornacelli as well as Jack Turnbull who unfortunately passed away from Covid-19 in 2020,” said Hill.

“I started acting professionally in 2019. I first started doing local commercials and print modeling. That turned into filming local independents,” said Hill.

While Cobra Kai is the first TV series that Hill was a part of, her first major production was the Lifetime Movie Nobody Will Believe You.

She also filmed the short Come! (Eat) on HBOmax and says, “I believe helped me get the role of Maria since I spoke Spanish in the film.”

What else is in store for Hill?

“I just wrapped filming for Nochebuena directed by Adam Lopez. Rose Bianco from Cobra Kai plays my best friend, and it was a full circle moment for me. The rest of the cast is amazing, and I got to represent my beautiful Puerto Rican people in this film. have another project in the works but it’s still a secret,” said Hill.

“One of my goals is to work with other Latinos in our industry and share our stories. Representation matters. Our stories matter,” said Hill.
