TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Chicago Bears 27-17 in Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
On offense, the Buccaneers were able to run and pass the ball effectively.
Mayfield completed 26 of 34 passes for 317 yards, with one touchdown, no interception and no sacks, and he added 19 rushing yards.
On defense, the Buccaneers were dominant. They sacked Justin Fields six times and intercepted him twice. This pressure on Fields forced him into mistakes and made it difficult for the Bears to move the ball.
The Buccaneers’ defensive performance was especially impressive in the fourth quarter. The Bears were driving to try to tie the game in the final two minutes, but the Buccaneers intercepted Fields twice to seal the victory.
The Buccaneers are now 2-0 on the season, while the Bears are 0-2.
The Buccaneers will host the Philadelphia Eagles for Monday Night Football on September 25.
