TAMPA, Fla. – Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine, has unveiled the winners of the 2023 Restaurant Awards, which honor the world’s best restaurants for wine.
This year’s awards program recognizes 3,505 dining destinations from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 70 countries internationally, with thirty Tampa Bay restaurants honored.

Included in Wine Spectator’s special Restaurant Awards issue: a favorable forecast for restaurants—how today’s restaurants are staffing up, refreshing their menus, and increasing their wine offerings creatively to engage their customers.
The Restaurant Awards issue, which features chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller on the cover, becomes available to readers on July 11th.
Topping the list in the Tampa area is Bern’s Steak House for strengths in Bordeaux, Burgundy, California, Rhône, France, Tuscany, Piedmont, Italy, Australia, Spain, and Germany.
Bern’s Steak House is a fine dining restaurant in Tampa, Florida. It is known for its dry-aged steaks, extensive wine list, and opulent dining room.
The restaurant was founded in 1956 by Bern Laxer and his wife Gert. Bern’s was originally a small luncheonette, but it quickly grew in popularity and expanded into a full-service restaurant.
In 1960, Bern’s began aging its steaks for 21 days, which was a revolutionary concept at the time.
