Swim Advisory Issued For Picnic Island Beach Due To High Bacteria Levels

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) has issued a swim advisory for Picnic Island Beach after water samples taken on June 12, 2024, revealed high levels of Enterococcus bacteria.

Health officials advise against swimming or engaging in other water activities at Picnic Island Beach due to the increased risk of illness. The advisory will remain in effect until bacteria levels return to a safe range.

Water quality monitoring is ongoing, and results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.
