TAMPA, Fla. (April 14, 2025) – Tampa Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the attempted bank robbery that occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025. Aaron James Spencer was arrested and charged today with Robbery.
Following the attempted crime, investigators diligently worked to gather evidence, including fingerprints recovered from the scene. These crucial pieces of information allowed detectives to rapidly develop leads that pointed towards Spencer and a recent address associated with him.

The investigation culminated in Spencer’s apprehension without incident at approximately 5:49 p.m. today at a residence located at 15923 Dawson Ridge Drive.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw commended the swift action and collaborative efforts that led to the arrest. “Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our detectives and the support of our federal partners at the FBI, this case was quickly resolved and the suspect taken into custody,” Chief Bercaw stated. “Let this be a clear message: if you commit a crime in our city, we will hold you accountable.”
Spencer is currently facing a charge of Robbery. Authorities have indicated that this is an active investigation, and further details regarding the attempted robbery will be released as they become available.
