BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a suspicious incident that occurred this morning at a school bus stop in the area of Nightwalker Road in Brooksville.
According to deputies, a Winding Waters K-8 student was waiting for the bus between 8:35 and 8:40 a.m when an older adult white male, with white hair, driving a tan-colored truck with a toolbox in the bed of the truck, stopped near the student.
Deputies say the driver attempted to call the student over to his vehicle.

The student ran to a neighbor’s house to report the incident. The driver of the truck fled the area.
The student was unharmed and reported the incident to the school administration when she arrived on campus.
“The investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be provided as they are made available by law enforcement,” said HCSO.
