A suspected kilogram-sized brick of cocaine was discovered by a passerby on Sunday afternoon near the Tea Table Bridge in Islamorada, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The discovery was made at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The individual who found the package reported it to the authorities, and the suspected narcotics were subsequently turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol for further investigation and testing.

The Tea Table Bridge is a well-known landmark in the Florida Keys, connecting Lower Matecumbe Key and Upper Matecumbe Key. Its proximity to open waters makes the area potentially susceptible to such discoveries.
