TAMPA, Fla. – A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Thursday when a suspect intentionally struck her patrol car with his vehicle while attempting to flee arrest. The incident occurred at an RV park located at 9102 Williams Road in Tampa.

Deputies were at the location to apprehend a suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated battery case. As deputies approached, the suspect entered a vehicle and deliberately rammed the deputy’s patrol car in an attempt to escape.

The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

The deputy sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No additional details were available immediately; however, HCSO will hold a press briefing this afternoon.
