PLANT CITY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced the arrest of 27-year-old Ervin Michael following an armed burglary incident in Plant City. The arrest was made possible through a coordinated effort involving the HCSO’s Aviation Unit and the Lakeland Police Department.
The incident occurred in the early hours of January 12, 2025, at approximately 12:40 a.m., on the 4700 block of Orange Haven Place. A homeowner was alerted to suspicious activity on their property and stepped outside to investigate.
The resident observed an individual wearing a ski mask and holding a large bag. Upon being confronted, the suspect fled toward a nearby vehicle.

The HCSO Aviation Unit responded swiftly, tracking the fleeing vehicle as it sped into Polk County. Surveillance efforts led authorities to a residence on the 5200 block of Wood Thrush Way in Lakeland, where a search warrant was subsequently executed in collaboration with the Lakeland Police Department.
During the search, deputies recovered a stolen firearm, wallets, designer handbags, cash, and a ripped passport. These items are believed to have been stolen during the burglary.
Ervin Michael was taken into custody at the Polk County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including:
- Armed Burglary of a Conveyance
- Felony Fleeing to Elude While Wearing a Mask
- Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance While Wearing a Mask
- Grand Theft Firearm
