TAMPA, Fla. – A suspect is in custody facing multiple charges after allegedly intentionally striking a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy with his vehicle in an attempt to evade arrest, authorities confirmed Friday evening.

The incident unfolded on January 24, 2025, at approximately 1:07 p.m., when deputies responded to an aggravated battery call at an RV park located at 9102 Williams Road in Tampa. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to take Logan Williams, 27, into custody. However, Williams entered a vehicle with his mother, Meriam Williams, 62, and attempted to flee the scene at a high rate of speed.

During his escape, Williams struck a citizen’s vehicle before intentionally ramming an HCSO patrol car, according to investigators. He then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was swiftly apprehended by deputies shortly thereafter.

Deputy Stevie Hackett, who was inside the patrol vehicle at the time of the crash, along with an HCSO civilian employee accompanying her, sustained injuries and were transported to Tampa General Hospital (TGH). Both are reported to be in stable condition.
