Student Arrested In Plant City For Possessing Firearm At Simmons Career Center

PLANT CITY, Fla. – Plant City Police, in cooperation with Hillsborough County Public Schools Security Services and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, promptly responded to a report of a student potentially having a firearm on the Simmons Career Center campus.

The student, Pedro Nicolas Mendoza-Silva, 16, admitted to having a firearm in his vehicle. A search revealed a loaded 9mm handgun, a magazine, and ammunition.

Mendoza-Silva was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and minor in possession of a firearm.
