TAMPA, Fla. – A 17-year-old student at Hillsborough High School was arrested on Tuesday afternoon with a firearm on campus.
According to Tampa Police, at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, the School Resource Officer assigned to Hillsborough High was notified by a student that another student had a firearm on campus.
The officer immediately responded to the gymnasium, located the student, and escorted him to the office. The student admitted to having a firearm in his possession, which was recovered from the student’s backpack.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to the JAC without further incident.

“At no time, did the student threaten anyone or make any threats with the firearm,” said Jamel Lanee’ TPD Spokesperson.
Elijah Ford, 17, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and Minor in possession of a firearm.
