Stopped To Help: Woman, Dog Killed In Dale Mabry Highway Crash In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – A 25-year-old Tampa woman and a dog were fatally struck by a vehicle on Dale Mabry Highway late Thursday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 PM north of Idlewild Avenue. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman stopped her Kia Optima after spotting a dog in the roadway. She exited her vehicle to assist the animal.

As she approached the dog, a 69-year-old Tampa man driving a Toyota RAV4 struck both the woman and the dog, with both sustaining fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
