Stolen Vehicle Investigation Leads To Deputy-Involved Shooting In New Port Richey

 Pasco Sheriff's deputies were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation in the area of Rowan Rd. and Trouble Creek Rd. in New Port Richey around 2:20 a.m., when they encountered an adult white male suspect in possession of the stolen vehicle.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s deputies were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation in the area of Rowan Rd. and Trouble Creek Rd. in New Port Richey around 2:20 a.m., when they encountered an adult white male suspect in possession of the stolen vehicle. 

The suspect ran away from deputies and, while doing so, turned and fired a handgun at the deputies who were pursuing the suspect.

One deputy returned fire, striking the suspect, and causing non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies were injured.

The suspect is in custody, and multiple charges are pending.

Pursuant to PSO’s policy, this shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
