TAMPA, Fla. – A stolen rental car was recovered on Monday, November 11th, 2024, thanks to the efforts of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies tracked the vehicle to the 8400 block of Camden Street in Tampa with the assistance of the Aviation Unit.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old David Hollis, was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, driving without a valid license, and possession of cannabis.

Hollis had reportedly failed to return the rental car to its rightful owner, despite claiming to have done so four days earlier.
“Thanks to the fast response from our Aviation Section and ground units, we were able to return this stolen vehicle,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Failing to return a rental car is theft – plain and simple. We will not tolerate that kind of criminal behavior in our community.”
