MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old man was arrested on Friday after a robbery at the Keys Federal Credit Union. Shannon Joseph Gayton was taken into custody without incident shortly after authorities arrived at the scene.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the credit union around 11:08 a.m. following reports of a robbery. Upon arrival, deputies found Gayton outside the establishment and promptly arrested him.

According to reports, Gayton allegedly threw a bag at the tellers, demanding they fill it with cash. He then proceeded to wait outside for law enforcement. No weapons were used in the incident, and no injuries were reported.
The FBI was notified, and a bag containing an undisclosed sum of money was recovered from Gayton and returned to the credit union.
