Stock Island Man Jailed After Spitting, Throwing Knife During Argument

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 48-year-old Stock Island man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly spitting on another man during an argument and then throwing a knife at him, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in the incident.

William Thomas Maki was taken into custody and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance on MacDonald Avenue at approximately 9:29 p.m. Upon arrival, they learned that Maki and a 75-year-old victim had been involved in a verbal altercation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the situation escalated when Maki allegedly spit in the older man’s face. In an attempt to defend himself, the victim reportedly pushed Maki back. It was at this point that Maki allegedly threw a knife at the 75-year-old.

Following the incident, Maki was apprehended and subsequently transported to the Monroe County Jail.
