ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The City of St. Petersburg is making it easy for residents to dispose of their live Christmas trees after the holidays with a free, citywide collection service.

Starting on Saturday, January 11th, residents can place their trees curbside for collection. To ensure pickup, trees must be placed where trash is normally collected by 7:00 AM on that day. The collection program will continue through February 10th, 2025.

Important Instructions for Live Tree Disposal:

  • Remove all decorations, including lights, ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, and plastic bags.
  • Place the tree at the curb or in the alley where your trash is normally collected.
  • Do not place trees in trash or recycling containers or lean them against poles, containers, or water meters.

Residents of apartments and condos should consult their property managers for proper disposal instructions.

Missed the Collection?

Residents who miss the designated collection period can request a special pickup through the city’s website or by calling 727-893-7398.

Live Tree Drop-off Options:

Residents can also drop off their live trees at one of the city’s five brush sites, open seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (closed on New Year’s Day). Proof of residency is required.

Artificial Tree Disposal:

Artificial trees can be disposed of in the regular trash if they fit in the bin with the lid closed. Alternatively, residents can request a special pickup.

The City of St. Petersburg encourages residents to reuse or donate their Christmas tree accessories whenever possible to minimize waste.
