ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Fire Rescue will pay tribute to the lives lost in the September 11th terrorist attacks with a citywide moment of silence on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.
At 9:57 a.m., firefighters at 13 stations across the city will position their emergency vehicles outside and turn on their lights. Then, at 9:59 a.m., the precise time the South Tower collapsed, they will observe a moment of silence to honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

“On this day, we remember and honor the lives lost, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of the American people,” said Interim Fire Chief Keith Watts. “Let us remember the victims of September 11th and honor their memory by striving for peace, unity, and understanding.”
Additionally, “Never Forget 911” signs will be displayed at each fire station, and the American flag will be flown at half-staff throughout the day.
