12-Year-Old Boy Dies In Accidental Shooting At St. Petersburg Apartment Complex

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life in an accidental shooting at the James Park Apartments in St. Petersburg on Monday evening.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at the apartment complex, located at 1050 3rd Avenue North, just before 6:30 PM on December 23rd. Upon arrival, officers found Jeremiah D. Nelson suffering from a gunshot wound.

Nelson was rushed to All Children’s Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including how the child gained access to the firearm.

PREVIOUS REPORT: Detectives have confirmed that a shooting involving a 12-year-old boy at the James Park Apartments was accidental.

The boy remains in critical condition at All Children’s Hospital as of the latest update.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Police are investigating a shooting that left a teenage boy critically injured at the James Park Apartments on Monday evening.

The incident occurred just before 6:30 PM at the apartment complex located at 1050 3rd Avenue North.

Officers responding to the scene found a teenage boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities describe the investigation as being in its early stages, with few details currently available. Police have not released information about potential suspects or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
