ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg Police officer has been disciplined following a review of allegations related to a domestic incident and departmental policy violations. Chief Anthony Holloway convened a Command Review Board to examine the case involving Officer John Antoine.

On August 27, 2024, Officer Antoine was arrested by Pinellas Park Police on a charge of aggravated assault (domestic-related). The allegations stemmed from a verbal argument with his former domestic partner outside her Pinellas Park residence. She claimed that Officer Antoine, while in uniform and armed, made a threatening comment to her.

Following the arrest, Officer Antoine was placed on administrative leave without pay for two months. On October 23, 2024, the 6th Judicial Circuit Court determined that the facts and circumstances of the incident did not warrant prosecution.

Despite the court’s decision, the Command Review Board found that Officer Antoine violated City of St. Petersburg Rules and Regulations. Specifically, he was found to have failed to notify the department of his current address and telephone number, and engaged in unlawful or improper conduct, both on and off duty, that could negatively affect his relationship with his job, fellow workers, reputation, or goodwill in the community.

As a result of these findings, Officer Antoine has been suspended for an additional 150 hours without pay. He will also be prohibited from using a take-home police vehicle for 18 months and is required to attend mandatory counseling.

Officer Antoine has been a member of the St. Petersburg Police Department since October 2, 2017.
