ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Two men, Miguel Angel Urra Diaz, 51, and Yosniel Jesus Llanes Mora, 33, were arrested early Sunday morning, July 21st, for allegedly stealing phones and wallets from women in downtown bars. Surveillance footage showed the suspects using stolen cards at a local Sam’s Club shortly after the thefts.
Diaz and Mora face multiple charges related to identity theft, fraudulent credit card use, and possession of stolen cards. Their arrests stem from an ongoing investigation into a surge of pickpocketing and ID theft reports in the downtown bar district since January.

Detectives believe the pair may be connected to a wider pickpocketing ring operating throughout the state. They are also working to identify additional victims. A state prosecutor has been assigned to collaborate with police on the case.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD + your tip to TIP411.
