ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Police detectives arrested 48-year-old Gregory Shinn for the first-degree murder of his domestic partner, 59-year-old Katrin Mari Simpson.
Police took Shinn into custody on Tuesday evening.
Police say at 11:27 p.m., February 20, 2024, Shinn called police to report he had found the body of his girlfriend hanging in their garage.

He claimed she committed suicide.
Through the investigation, detectives determined there was a history of domestic violence, and there were inconsistencies in Shinn’s statements.
Also, the victim, Katrin Mari Simpson, had injuries inconsistent with suicide by hanging.
