PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Petersburg man has been arrested and charged with abusing two disabled residents at a Dunedin nursing home.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation on December 23, 2024, following a report of resident abuse at the Lake Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Detectives discovered that 35-year-old Nicholas Brown, a Certified Nursing Assistant at the facility, had allegedly battered two non-verbal adult male residents. One victim suffers from a traumatic brain injury, and the other is a quadriplegic with intellectual disabilities.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, another employee witnessed the incidents and reported that Brown struck the victims multiple times on their legs, sides, and buttocks with an open hand. The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the facility.
On January 7, 2025, detectives arrested Brown and charged him with two counts of abuse or neglect of an aged or disabled person. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Lake Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility confirmed that Brown’s employment was terminated following the incident.
