TAMPA, Fla. – The northbound lanes of the Selmon Expressway were closed Thursday at 8:57 a.m. following a fiery wrong-way crash involving a St. Petersburg man.
All lanes have been reopened.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2018 Dodge pickup, driven by a 41-year-old St. Pete man, was traveling northbound on the Crosstown Connector.
Troopers say near the toll gantry on the Connector, the adult male driver completed a U-Turn and began traveling southbound in the northbound lanes until colliding with a concrete barrier wall.

Upon impact, the vehicle split in half and caught fire.
The driver was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The northbound lanes of the Connector remained closed for an extended period.
