PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured in a collision on US-19 near Parkview Boulevard this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:45 PM when a Mercedes sedan, driven by a 34-year-old St. Petersburg man, lost control and veered into the median, colliding with a stationary FHP patrol car.

The impact sent the patrol car into the southbound lanes while the Mercedes came to a stop in the northbound lanes.

Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
