ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 29-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested and charged in the murder of his mother over the weekend.
According to police, at 11:30 am on Saturday, St. Petersburg Police responded to a call to check the welfare of a woman at 5055 3rd Avenue South.
Once inside the home, they located the deceased body of 60-year-old Harriet Owens.
Jontrell Collins, 29, was also located inside of the home.
According to an affidavit, Collins used his fist to beat his mother causing “mortal wounds.”
Collins was arrested and charged with murder in the second degree.
