ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The City of St. Petersburg is now accepting applications for its new Community Food Grant Program, which aims to enhance health equity through improved food access. The program, funded with $1.179 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, will award up to $300,000 to local non-profits.
The grant, open until August 16th, encourages organizations to submit innovative projects that align with at least one of the Healthy Food Action Plan’s areas of focus:
- Support Local Food Economy & Community Building
- Improve Food Access & Security
- Strengthen Community Health & Wellness

Successful applicants will receive funding in tiers of $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000.
The Healthy Food Action Plan, a community-led initiative finalized last week, serves as the foundation for the grant program. It addresses the social, environmental, economic, and physical aspects of food access and security within the city.
Both programs are administered by Healthy St. Pete, a division of the Parks and Recreation Department, demonstrating the city’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of its residents.
Non-profit organizations interested in applying can find detailed eligibility criteria, guidelines, and the application form on the city’s website at www.stpete.org/HFAP. Questions regarding the grant program can be directed to kim.lehto@stpete.org.
