ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A Lakewood High School student was arrested Wednesday for having a gun on campus.
A 14-year-old boy in the 9th grade at Lakewood High School was arrested Wednesday for having a handgun in his backpack at school.
Police say a school administrator spotted the gun in the student’s backpack.
When the administrator tried to detain him, the student dropped the backpack and ran off campus. The student didn’t threaten anyone at the school with the weapon and didn’t brandish it, police say.
He was arrested and charged with possessing a weapon on school property.
