ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg City Council and its committees convened on July 11th, addressing a wide range of issues vital to the community.
Housing and Codes Compliance
The Housing, Land Use, and Transportation Committee discussed a new Codes Compliance Assistance program aimed at helping homeowners with limited incomes address outstanding code violations. Funding would also be used to expand the Accessibility Accommodation Program for wheelchair ramps.

The Public Services and Infrastructure Committee proposed updates to fines and lien structures for certain code violations, aiming to deter repeat offenses and streamline enforcement.
Mayor’s Recommended Budget
Mayor Kenneth T. Welch presented the Fiscal Year 2025 Recommended Budget, featuring the “Forward Together” youth crime prevention program as the winner of the Innovative Equity Project community vote.
Roofing Assistance and Proclamations

City Council approved a new roofing assistance program for low-income homeowners in the South St. Petersburg CRA and increased the maximum award for owner-occupied rehab assistance.
Proclamations were also made, celebrating the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and 125 years of Duke Energy.
