St. Petersburg 8th-Grader Arrested Making Threats On Social Media To Shoot Up School

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A 15-year-old boy in the eighth grade at John Hopkins Middle School threatened a shooting at the school in a social media post on Monday, according to police.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 15-year-old boy in the eighth grade at John Hopkins Middle School threatened a shooting at the school in a social media post on Monday, according to police.

Police say the threat was reported to the school resource officer, and the student was arrested at his home.

The student is charged with making a written threat to kill, a 2nd-degree felony, according to investigators.

“The St. Petersburg Police Department takes all school threats very seriously for the safety of our students. Threatening comments/posts will always be investigated and result in serious consequences,” said SPPD.
