St. Pete Police Arrest Suspect In The Murders Of Two Men

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – Through investigative techniques, St. Petersburg detectives were able to identify a person of interest in the two recent homicides in St. Petersburg of Vernon Williams and Corlenzo Williams.

“Working with Tampa Police Department and the FBI, we were able to take him into custody yesterday evening. He is currently being held in Hillsborough County on charges unrelated to the St. Petersburg shootings,” said PIO Yolanda Fernandez.

St. Petersburg Police was asking the public for information on the separate shooting deaths of the two men and was offering a reward of up to $5000 for information on each of the homicides through Crime Stoppers.

Vernon Williams, age 60, died early Sunday, April 10, of a gunshot wound in the 900 block of Melrose Avenue South.

Corlenzo Williams, age 24, died on the morning, April 12, of a gunshot wound, in the 2900 block of 17th Avenue South.
