ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg man has been arrested and charged in the death of a man that wrecked in a fiery crash after being shot at by the suspect.
St. Petersburg Police have arrested Jaylen Shazell, 23, and charged him with 1st Degree Felony Murder for the death of Demond Perry, 25.
According to police, on February 12, 2022, shortly before 3 a.m., investigators determined that Shazell was involved in the pursuit of Perry’s white Infiniti when he drove off from a local nightclub, and also in the shooting at Perry’s Infiniti 24 times.
While fleeing from the shots, Perry crashed on Tyrone Blvd near 9th Avenue North.
Perry’s vehicle flipped and caught on fire.
Perry died hours later from injuries sustained in the crash.
