PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Tesla Model Y caught fire after a dramatic crash on US-19 near Spring Hill early Thursday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred around 6:50 a.m.
A 24-year-old Spring Hill woman was driving her Tesla Model Y southbound on US-19 when she collided with debris in the roadway, south of Tower Road. The impact caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then crossed the median and all northbound lanes of US-19.
The Tesla came to a final rest in the driveway entrance of Castriota Chevrolet, where it subsequently caught fire. Fortunately, the driver was able to exit the vehicle unharmed before the flames engulfed the car.

FHP reports that the driver sustained no injuries in the crash. The cause of the debris in the roadway is currently under investigation.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption on US-19 during the morning commute. Authorities are working to clear the scene and investigate the crash.
