Spring Hill Man Receives 15-Year Prison Sentence For Child Pornography Possession

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Spring Hill man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his arrest in April 2023 for possessing child pornography.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received information that Steven Sims, 49, might be in possession of child pornography. Deputies executed a search warrant at Sims’ residence on April 5, 2023, and discovered a cellphone containing at least 10 files of child pornography.

A subsequent forensic examination of the phone uncovered an additional 90 child pornography video files. Sims was arrested and charged with 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. His bond was set at $900,000.

On August 30, 2024, Sims was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections, followed by 5 years of Sex Offender probation.
