TAMPA, Fla. – Spirit Airlines announced today it will launch nonstop daily flights between Tampa International Airport and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport beginning this fall.
The low-cost carrier is the third airline at TPA to offer service to Milwaukee, capitalizing on the recent boom of Midwest visitors jetting to Florida in recent months.
The route also gives travelers from the Tampa Bay area another option in visiting the friendly city known for its famous breweries and baseball.
In the first quarter of this year, the Tampa Bay area has seen a huge increase in the number of visitors from the Milwaukee area.
In the first few months of 2021, the number of people flying or driving from Milwaukee to the St. Pete-Clearwater area has increased 101 percent compared to the same period in 2019, according to Visit St. Pete/Clearwater’s data partner Arrivalist.
Overall, there’s been an explosion of Midwest visitors flocking to the Tampa Bay area beaches and attractions, and airlines have added several new TPA routes to meet this demand.
The Spirit flights launch on Nov. 17 and will be offered daily out of Airside A. To book a flight on Spirit, visit https://www.spirit.com/.
