LARGO, Fla. – Local animal shelter SPCA Tampa Bay is set to gain national recognition on an upcoming episode of the CBS series “Extraordinary World with Jeff Corwin.” The segment featuring the Largo-based organization will air locally on 10 Tampa Bay (WTSP) on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 6:30 a.m. EDT. Viewers can also stream the episode on Paramount+.

Hosted by Emmy-winning conservationist Jeff Corwin, “Extraordinary World with Jeff Corwin” shines a spotlight on everyday people and organizations making a significant positive difference through animal advocacy, wildlife conservation, youth empowerment, and combating food insecurity. The series aims to highlight drivers of positive change and show how individual acts of kindness can impact communities and the world.

“The mission here at SPCA Tampa Bay very much fits within the wheelhouse of what we want to do,” stated Jeff Corwin. “Our mission is to highlight wilds, nature, animal conservation, stories, animal advocacy stories like abandoned animals, getting new homes or forever homes, and that human interest uplift stories… I can’t remember a time in my life where I didn’t have a powerful connection to animals, to nature. And that very much is the inspiration for our new series we have on CBS, along with our partners The Brady Hunter Foundation.”

Coinciding with the announcement and aiming to find forever homes for animals in their care, SPCA Tampa Bay is launching a special adoption promotion. Starting today, Friday, April 11, and running through Sunday, April 20, 2025, the shelter is offering half-off adoption fees for all dogs, cats, and small animals. SPCA Tampa Bay encourages the community to consider changing an animal’s life with “one small act of kindness” through adoption, highlighting the mutual healing and companionship found in the human-animal bond.
