LARGO, Fla. – SPCA Tampa Bay needs the community’s help in supporting shelter animals during the organization’s 30th Annual Pet Walk presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. This year’s event, on Saturday, April 17, will be held at North Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg and online via SPCA Tampa Bay’s social media channels.
Due to the ongoing health concerns regarding COVID-19, SPCA Tampa Bay will have a socially distanced event. The event at North Straub Park will be limited to 1,000 guests and their pets. In conjunction with the City of St.
Petersburg, this decision will assist in keeping the community healthy while still helping animals in our care.
In 2020, more than 7,000 pets and wildlife were surrendered to the for-all shelter. SPCA Tampa Bay’s goal is to raise $120,000 for the medical care, training and welfare of these animals so they can return to their natural habitat or find their forever home.
Pet Walk participants can join or form a team with co-workers, friends and family, or sign up as an individual walker at petwalk.org. Then it’s easy to start raising money using social media, text messages and more to help support the organization’s many programs that benefit the beloved pets in the Tampa Bay community. Sign up is free and participants that raise at least $25 will receive an official Pet Walk t-shirt.
What can you expect at Pet Walk? It’s a community party that raises critical funds for pets and other animals! Our pet walk event will have:
- A pet costume contest with prizes
- Awards and prizes for the top fundraising teams
- Pet vendors, pets, and a fun, socially distanced 1.5-mile pet walk course to Demens Landing Park and back.
The animals need your support! Sign up, set up your page at petwalk.org and start raising money for shelter animals or in the memory of your favorite pet!
