A new Florida bill would make it illegal to let a dog be in a driver’s lap or stick their head out of a window of a moving car.

LARGO, Fla. – SPCA Tampa Bay is waiving adoption fees for dogs that are two years old and up from Wednesday, December 20, through Sunday, December 24.

The adoption event is in addition to its current Tiny Tails adoption event that concludes Sunday, December 31. All pocket pets like small birds, rabbits and guinea pigs can be adopted without a fee from SPCA Tampa Bay.

More than (50) two year old and up dogs are available at SPCA Tampa Bay.  All dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, spayed, and/or neutered. Come to the For-All shelter in Largo and meet them.

View adoptable dogs at spcatampabay.org/dogs, the small animals at spcatampabay.org/pocket-pets or come to the shelter in Largo.

Potential adopters are encouraged to arrive early and bring a leash, collar, or harness for their new dog. If you have another dog at home it’s recommended to bring your current canine for a meet and greet.

For the small animals please have a carrier or housing that’s appropriate for your new pet. Some small animals are excluded from this adoption event like: Ferrets, chinchillas, highly desirable reptiles, large birds and hedgehogs.

Pets can bring love to a family that lasts a lifetime and not just for the holidays. SPCA Tampa Bay’s staff and volunteers can assist families in finding a pet that’s right for their family’s lifestyle.

The adoption team focuses on matching families and all pets for long-term success. In addition, SPCA Tampa Bay has a Foster to Adopt Dogs program that may assist in finding the right dog for your lifestyle. Ask the SPCA team about the program.

Past fee-waived adoption events have helped animals find new loving homes in only a few days, which frees resources for SPCA Tampa Bay to provide care and shelter for animals in our community.

SPCA Tampa Bay cares for more than 8,000 animals each year including wildlife. For more information on SPCA Tampa Bay’s pocket pets, and all of their adoptable pets, visit spcatampabay.org and click on adoptions, or call 727-586-3591.
