A Columbia, South Carolina man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to traffic over two dozen illegal firearms from South Carolina to Boston.

Trevon Brunson, 32, received his sentence on March 21, 2025, from U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin. In addition to the prison term, Brunson will serve three years of supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty to firearms trafficking and conspiracy charges in October 2024.

The investigation, which began after a firearm recovered from a Boston shooting was traced back to a South Carolina purchase just 15 days prior, revealed a three-year conspiracy between Brunson and co-defendant Aizavier Roache.

Evidence presented in court showed that Roache would send Brunson photos of desired firearms via text message. Brunson would then purchase the guns in South Carolina using cash provided by Roache. The firearms were then transferred to Roache at various locations in Columbia, S.C. Roache made numerous trips between Massachusetts and South Carolina to facilitate the illegal transactions.

Text messages, bank records, travel records, and firearm purchase records corroborated the conspiracy. In one instance, Brunson used Roache’s credit card to complete a multi-gun purchase, with Roache texting him the PIN. A video recovered from Roache’s phone showed him displaying a bag containing four firearms on a bus, coinciding with a trip back to Massachusetts after a gun purchase in April 2023.

In total, the defendants trafficked more than 24 illegal firearms to Massachusetts. Eleven of these firearms were later recovered in Massachusetts after being used in criminal activity.

Roache was previously sentenced in February 2025 to five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, Special Agent in Charge James M. Ferguson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm prosecuted the case.
