Sophomore At Lakeland’s SEU Displays Her Faith In Life And Art

LAKELAND, FL. – Everyone has talent. Whether they are Broadway singers or Rubik’s cube champions. Regina Rohm is a young ceramic artist making her products, designs, and passion show vividly within her work.

Regina is a sophomore at Southeastern University located in Lakeland Florida.

Her original major was undeclared with an interest to become a dental hygienist. That interest quickly changed when she shadowed a dentist’s office and fell out of love with it.

“All I knew was that I liked artistic ability and I wanted to do something with it,” said Regina.

Regina’s faith is prominent in her life and her art. She values the utmost importance of how God has a plan for you in place. Her plans were fitting for her life, but she did not consider what plans God had. That was the point in time where she leaned more on Jesus and accepted His plans.

Regina said, “He knows the plans He has for us.”

The overwhelming fact is that Regina didn’t plan on her art becoming a business. She was not sure what she could do with her talents. That is when she met a ceramics business at Southeastern’s annual external market day.

That growing interest quickly became a passion that she was amazing at. Now, she creates masterpieces that go from a passion to a paycheck. Time is a positive and negative factor for every college student.

The positive aspect is that she can spend her hours in a calming environment. However, the negative is being a busy college student with expenses. Her hope for her future in ceramics is to find her own studio space that she can call home. Perhaps, have her own kiln space and possibly hold ceramics classes.

A business takes time, dedication, passion, and more. Regina provides some advice for anyone that is thinking about starting a business. “Don’t be afraid to do it. I think a lot of people don’t truly become good at something because they’re afraid of the easier route.” Regina said. You miss any chance if you do not pursue it.

“Being confident and not letting the fear of the unknown prohibit you from doing what you want,” said Regina.
