The son of the suspect accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump in Florida has been arrested on federal charges related to child sexual abuse images.
Oran Routh was taken into custody this week after authorities searched his North Carolina home in connection with an unrelated investigation, according to the AP. During the search, investigators seized several electronic devices and discovered hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material.

Routh’s father, Ryan Routh, is currently facing federal gun charges for an alleged assassination attempt earlier this month. Prosecutors have indicated that more serious charges related to the attempted assassination are forthcoming.
Oran Routh is facing two charges of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse material.
