Some Suggest Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley Is Seen As A Plant For Democratic Party

If you’re a Republican, you’re not imagining things when considering GOP presidential prospect Nikki Haley is being promoted by left-wingers — in an effort to torpedo the right’s influence within the Republican Party.

The latest example came Thursday from the Epoch Times, which reported that David Plouffe, Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, said Democrats and independents could upset former President Donald Trump by voting for Haley.

The Times noted that Plouffe seemed to be suggesting that Democrats and left-leaning independents could, in states where it’s allowed, opt to vote in the GOP primary to undermine Trump.

“I think it’s probably too distasteful for a lot of people. But for those who would be up for it, to do something tactically — I don’t know if it would stop Trump, but, you know, it could help extend the primary,” Plouffe told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Wednesday.

“I think, when you look out in the rest of the states, Trump’s clearly a dominant favorite,” Plouffe continued. “But in a two-person race, there’s a healthy number of Republicans who are open to an alternative if she’s the only one. So, I think for liberals, or Democrats, or independents who might not ever support Nikki Haley to be the president to cast a strategic or tactical vote, to me, makes a lot of sense.”

“If the cards fall the right way, if somehow she could finish ahead of [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis in Iowa, I think that makes it more likely. Maybe [Chris] Christie drops out,” he added. “But you see, in New Hampshire, you know, Trump may be close to his ceiling… So, if you got that to a two-person race, he could very well be defeated there.”

Plouffe’s argument is not necessarily new.

DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy have attacked Haley for her liberal tendencies during the primary season.

And as the Tampa Free Press reported a month ago, Reid Hoffman, one of the Democratic Party’s biggest donors, contributed $250,000 to a pro-Haley super PAC.

On his X broadcast this week, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson also pressed the point that prominent Democrats may see that it’s better and easier to “subvert” the GOP because few will want to undermine Biden or create an opening for Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Nikki Haley is a liberal. She is all in on the four tenets of neoliberalism, which are white guilt, a finance-based economy, mass immigration, and endless neocon wars,” Carlson argued. “Strip away all the outward characteristics, and Nikki Haley is identical in her priorities to Joe Biden and the people who back Joe Biden.”

In an interview with Carlson this week, Ramaswamy said it’s now in “plain sight” that deep-pocketed liberal donors and high-profile Democrats want Haley to succeed to topple Trump — and by doing so they get the benefit of being able to assert that they are “bipartisan.”

The “system” desires Haley, Ramaswamy said, so they can take down Trump and allow her to “waltz straight in” to “keep the war machine humming and to effectively keep the censorship-industrial complex and the administrative state intact exactly where it was in the post-9/11, Bush-Cheney era.”
