HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A multi-agency effort is underway to rid Hillsborough County of unsightly and illegal roadside signs.

Code enforcement officers from Hillsborough County and the cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City will join forces on Friday, November 22nd, for “Sign Off Day Tampa Bay.” This annual initiative targets unauthorized signs and advertising posted on public property, including utility poles, medians, and rights-of-way.

The collected signs will be recycled or destroyed. NuCycle Energy, a Plant City company, will process the signs into fuel cubes, while the metal components will be recycled through the county’s existing program.

The operation will run from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. Residents are encouraged to report any illegal signs they observe to their local code enforcement office.
