A brother and sister, along with a juvenile accomplice, have been arrested in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a bail bonds business in Cocoa.

The incident occurred on January 6th at Moncrief Bail Bonds. According to employees, two masked individuals entered the business, demanding money at gunpoint. However, the suspects fled empty-handed after discovering there was no cash on site.

An investigation by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office revealed that similar suspects had committed an armed robbery the previous night in Cocoa Beach. Working in conjunction with the Cocoa Beach Police Department, investigators were able to identify the suspects as Rasheem Jones, Takirria Jones, and a juvenile, Matthew Jackson.

Takirria Jones allegedly served as the getaway driver, while Rasheem Jones and Matthew Jackson entered the bail bonds business.

Rasheem Jones was charged with attempted robbery with a firearm and a mask, aggravated assault with a firearm and a mask, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Takirria Jones was charged with attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Matthew Jackson was charged with attempted robbery with a firearm and a mask and aggravated assault with a firearm and a mask.

All three suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Jackson was processed at the Juvenile Detention Center, while Rasheem and Takirria Jones were booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey commended the investigative work and collaboration between agencies that led to the arrests.

“This is definitely a type of family bonding you don’t see every day, but folks, I don’t recommend it!!” he quipped. “To our new residents of the Lodge [jail], we hope you don’t enjoy your stay, but maybe while you’re in there you can think of some different family outings to participate in when you make your way back home that don’t involve crime!!”
