The Florida House will return to Tallahassee next week to prepare for the 2024 legislative session, but will hold meetings on only one day.
The House has set times for 11 subcommittee meetings on Sept. 19, with no subcommittee or committee meetings slated the rest of the week, according to a schedule posted online.
A ceremony will be held on Sept. 18, however, to formally designate Rep. Daniel Perez, R-Miami, as the next House speaker. Perez will become speaker after the November 2024 elections, succeeding Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast.
