A Sheriff’s office in Florida didn’t waste any time setting the tone for 2025, welcoming its first group of “traveling criminals” of the year with a decisive arrest after a bold theft at a Walgreens.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the main suspect, 39-year-old Blake Kahn of Broward County, was caught after attempting to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise by packing the items into a bag and using a wheelchair to roll out of the store without paying.

Kahn abandoned the wheelchair outside the Walgreens, getting into a getaway car driven by 38-year-old Andrew Turkus, with 38-year-old Christine Thomson as the passenger.

Deputies intercepted the vehicle shortly after the theft, finding boxes of expensive stolen merchandise inside. All three suspects—Kahn, Turkus, and Thomson—have criminal records in Broward County, with charges including theft and drug-related offenses.

Kahn reportedly admitted to deputies that their plan might have worked better if they had avoided Martin County entirely. “Should’ve, would’ve, could’ve,” he said, lamenting their decision to stop in the area.

Kahn suggested they “should’ve driven past Martin County,” claiming they “would’ve had more luck” in Broward County and “could’ve just gotten away with a trespass warning there.”

MCSO praised the swift work of its deputies and promised to maintain vigilance as the year begins. “Hopefully, this traveling criminal trio will remember their ambitious goals as we move into the New Year,” the statement read. “MCSO could, should, and will make the #WrongExit even more notorious in 2025.”
