Palatka Police Officers and Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived and were able to place the man into custody and have him evaluated by mental health professionals.
“While we do not encourage residents to take this type of action and place themselves in life-threatening danger, we want to take this opportunity to thank them for their self-sacrifice and their compassion in saving their fellow man,” said Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
“We hope that the gentleman who was contemplating this drastic action is able to get the help he needs as well,” said PCSO.
Emergencies are stressful events for both the mind and body. However, it’s the people who rise above to help others that show what a great community we have.
