U.S. Sen. Rick Scott of Florida on Tuesday slammed President Joe Biden’s hastily assembled aid package for overseas crises, which contains more than four times as much money for Ukraine as it does for Israel.

The Florida Republican labeled Biden’s plan “unserious” in a press release that called on lawmakers to reject the Democratic president’s proposal and vote on aid for Israel alone.

“It has been 17 days since Iran-backed Hamas terrorists launched their savagely brutal attack on Israel, killing more than 1,400 innocent people, including at least 33 Americans, and took Americans and hundreds of others hostage in Gaza,” Scott said. “The Senate needs to vote on aid for Israel now – by itself.”

“Everyone in Washington knows that what the president has proposed will never pass in the House. It is unserious and needs to be discarded and moved on from,” he added.

As the Tampa Free Press reported last week, Biden requested $105 billion for military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Israel, to beef up security at America’s southern border, and some funding for Taiwan.

Of that amount, Biden proposes to send $61 billion to Ukraine and just $14 billion for Israel.

If approved, Ukraine will have received at least $160 billion from U.S. taxpayers since Russia invaded that country in February 2022.

That would also be more than America has provided Israel in its entire 75-year history.

In March, the Congressional Research Service released a report that showed the U.S. has provided $158 billion to Israel since it was founded in 1948.

“Americans should be disgusted that President Biden and Washington’s ruling class continue to use crisis after crisis to push massive spending packages for issues that have no business being voted on together,” Scott continued. “There is overwhelming bipartisan support for Israel and we can get an aid package passed in the Senate quickly.”

“The same cannot be said about Biden’s asks on Ukraine aid, which is far broader than just lethal aid to defeat Putin, or his horrific idea to give billions to bail out sanctuary cities and push policies that actually make the raging national security crisis on the border even worse.”

“Needlessly delaying this action in search of some doomed grand bargain only hurts the United States, our ally Israel and the urgent mission to rescue the Americans being held hostage in Gaza by Iran-backed Hamas,” Scott concluded.
